Medical and Law degrees

We can help with your Medical application  • contact us to find out more

Medical schools in the UK normally require A-level Chemistry and at least two other subjects, all with A grades, as competition is fierce. But academic achievement is not the only criteria considered. Your interests, involvement in the community, work experience and demeanour are all important as medical staff work with professionals and patients alike. The same can be said about entry to Dentistry or Veterinary schools.

For a Law degree there are no particular A-level subjects that must be studied (not even A-level law)! However, given the nature of a law degree, you will need a high level of literacy and comprehension skills, which are best developed through traditional, rigorous subjects. These will always be respected by the higher ranking institutions, who will clearly understand the skills gained. Whatever your subject choices, you will need to excel

If you are applying to Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, Leeds, Brighton and Sussex or the Royal Veterinary College, you will need to take the BMAT test (Biomedical Admissions Test). This is not necessary for other medical schools (although they will usually require the UCAT test University Clinical Aptitude Test).
