Our teachers ...your guides

New courses start 4th Sept 2017... how to apply

We are fortunate to have a group of experienced and committed teachers who can offer a varied range of A-level and GCSE subjects, and have developed courses that can be delivered over 1 year. All of our teachers have experience of mainstream education, and bring a variety of extra skills and passions. Here is some information you may find interesting.

Principal: Adrian Bradfield. Adrian is one of the college directors and also teaches some of the maths and physics courses. He has a rich variety of experience in both independent and state sectors, and has overseen the college from its inception in 2011.

Chemistry: Gordana teaches A-level Chemistry, and is epecially interested in the practical side of the subject, as this enables students to experience the chemical processes developed during the course. Gordana is helped once a week by a postgraduate research student from Bristol University, who reinforces the theory from previous lessons and answers any questions that may arise.

Biology: Zara is our main A-level Biology teacher, and she has carefully developed a 1 year course that is highly successful. As with Chemistry, a postgraduate research student from Bristol University comes once a week to reinforce theoretical concepts and answers any questions that may arise.

English: Catherine teaches our A-level English Language, English Literature and GCSE English Language courses, and she is a current examiner and moderator. Catherine also has experience of working with students who have special needs, and has helped many with written or spoken communication problems.

English and Sociology: Annette has considerable experience in tutoring A-level students for Sociology and English Language, and helps to deliver our English and Sociology courses. She has carried out sociological research at a professional level, and clearly enjoys student interaction in these participatory subjects.

Psychology: Louise teaches our A-level Psychology course, and brings considerable experience of teaching this in other institutions with her. Louise has developed a structure for our 1 year A-level that successfully integrates all aspects of this complex subject.

History; Government & Politics: Andrew comes from many years as the Head of History at a local school, and is enormously enthusiastic about his subjects! He has produced a book specialising in American Political history, and (like many of our teachers) has experience as an examiner.

Economics; Accounting: Robert has for many years been a freelance tutor for A-level students, and he also has experience of teaching in local colleges of further education. He is a real polymath.

GCSE courses: The teachers mentioned above mostly contribute to our GCSE courses, with Bob additionally teaching Biology. These courses typically do not have as much time per week as A-level courses, but this is in line with most schools and students can take several GCSE subjects.
